Q. I get asked for a product key when I download EndNote.

When you receive a prompt to enter a product key, follow the steps below to extract the files from the EndNote zipped folder:

1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or use the Windows search box to lookup and select 'File Explorer'.
2. In the pop up window, select 'Downloads' on the left.
3. Go to the 'EndNoteX25 for Windows OS' zipped folder icon, right click and choose 'Extract All...' or double click on the zipped folder, select 'Extract all' then choose 'Extract' in the pop up window.
4. Once the files are extracted, a pop up window containing the installer file (EN2025Inst) will appear. Double click on the installer file then follow the on screen prompts to complete the installation process. 

Note: When you open the zipped 'EndNote 2025 for Windows OS' folder, you may see an installer file and another folder called 'Install'. In this case, use the installer within the second 'Install' folder.
