Multiple author profiles (records) for Scopus or Web of Science Researcher Profiles (formerly Publons) can occur due to multiple assigned ResearcherIDs.

If your Researcher ID is not reflective of your activity statement and it does not display all publications or the right h-index some of the typical reasons are:

  • Researcher publishes under different versions of their name.
  • The publisher has a spelling error in the name.
  • The author’s name has been inverted unintentionally.
  • Affiliation change to Western has not occurred.
  • A researcher has changed research fields.

To resolve this issue, you can use the Scopus author feedback wizard to merge author profiles:

  1. Login into Scopus and perform an author search.
  2. Select the author profiles to be merged and choose ‘Request to merge authors’.
  3. Follow the prompts to select your preferred name, merge profiles, add and remove documents or update your affiliation.
  4. Choose Proceed to make changes to continue.

After you have submitted your request, you will receive a verification link via email. Once Scopus has confirmed that the two or more IDs belong to the same author, the IDs will be merged. This process may take up to two weeks.

However, if this information needs to be consolidated urgently for promotions and grants, contact the library to see if we can expedite this issue to have this data reflected in your staff profile.
