If an EndNote library gets damaged, you may get an error message when trying to open it or work with the references.

  1. Close the Library if it is currently open.
  2. From the Tools menu, choose Recover Library. Read the information about the Recover Library command, and click OK.
  3. Select the library that needs to be repaired, and click Open
  4. EndNote creates a copy of the Library with the suffix "-Saved" added to the name.

Note: The best way to protect yourself from damaged files is to regularly backup your Library.
