Turnitin can check your research paper or thesis for similarity against other publications and an extensive internal database of internet sources, journals, and many students’ submitted work. You will be able to submit your paper many times and these will not be saved in the Turnitin database. The first three submissions of the paper will generate a similarity report within an hour. Allow up to 24 hours for subsequent submissions to generate a similarity report.

Turnitin is accessed from within the Research Training vUWS site. All HDR candidates should have access to this vUWS site. If you do not have access to this site, please contact the Graduate Research School.

To locate the Turnitin link:

  • Login into vUWS with your WesternAccount details.
  • Click on 'Companion Sites' from the main menu on the left to locate the Research Training vUWS site.
  • Once you are in the Research Training vUWS site, click on the Turnitin link in the left hand side menu.

To submit your paper to Turnitin:

  • Locate the HDR Candidate submission link (Turnitin).
  • Upload your document to Turnitin.
