Q. Why do journal metrics differ across platforms?

Journal metrics differ because each platform uses different data, metrics, subject categories, and ranking methods.

For journal quartiles:

• Scopus Sources uses Scopus data to report CiteScore percentile and rank by subject category, rather than quartiles.
• SCImago Journal & Country Rank uses Scopus data to report quartiles based on the SCImago Journal Rank indicator and subject category.
• Journal Citation Reports uses Web of Science data to report Journal Impact Factor quartiles by rank, category, and year.

Because the platforms use different datasets, metrics, and subject classifications, the same journal may appear differently in each tool. Always record the percentile or quartile, rank, subject category, year, source platform, and date recorded.
