Guidelines for applying for DOIs can be found here. The procedure to obtain a DOI is:

1. The author fills in the online request form, providing a draft copy of the document
2. The library assigns a DOI, then provides it to the author via WesternNow
3. The author inserts the DOI into the final version of their document
4. The author provides the final version of the document to the Library via WesternNow
5. The Library enters the document into the Research Profiles and Repository and, at this stage, the DOI will become live

Please note: there is no need for the author to submit the document to the Library again via the self-submission system, as a record is created in the Research Profiles and Repository and the portal before assigning a DOI.
