The APA 7th style available in EndNote is not currently configured to handle sources with 21 or more authors.

When a source has 21 or more authors, the reference entry should include only the first 19 names, an ellipsis, and the final name (Section 9.8 of the Publication Manual and Example 4 in Chapter 10).

It is recommended to either:

  1. Download the latest APA 7th style from the EndNote website:
This version of the style has the 21 or more author rule configured. Instructions for adding downloaded styles to EndNote can be found here.

or

      2. Edit the existing style in EndNote:

a. Go to the Tools menu > Output Styles > Edit “APA 7th”

b. Under Bibliography > Author Lists > Abbreviated Author List, change the radio button and enter the numbers 21 and 19 in the text boxes so it displays as "If 21 or more authors, list the first 19 authors, insert: ,..."

c. Click the File menu > Save and then close the style.
